Parts Technician

Position: Parts Technician | Location: Milton, ON (401 & James Snow Parkway)

Duties:  

Parts Ordering:

  • Maintain vendor relations.
  • Use printed and digital parts manuals to identify parts required for large and small projects.
  • Obtain parts quotes from multiple suppliers ensuring best possible price.
  • Plan parts delivery schedules for ongoing contractual work.
  • Use internal system to place parts orders.
  • Customer engagement with transit authorities – no public customer interactions

Parts Management:

  • Work with the shop mangers to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
  • Manage allocation of inventoried parts to work in process.
  • Manage delivery of back ordered product and returns of defective or damaged goods.

Warehouse Functions:

  • Perform general receiving duties as required
  • Receive trucks and unload merchandise.
  • Stack merchandise on racks.
  • Check in merchandise into the computerized inventory system
  • Allocate inventory to jobs.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received.

Reporting & Other:

  • Present weekly reports to management team regarding parts deliveries, back orders, and supplier constraints.
  • Support the overall operations of the parts department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience ordering parts in a high SKU automotive parts distribution setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and aptitude to learn a computerized inventory management and warehouse system.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow processes and procedures.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Safety oriented mindset.
  • Legally able to work in Canada; and able to communicate in English

Additional Qualifications:

  • 2 years automotive/truck/bus parts department experience preferred
  • Sound business judgement, highly developed organizational, administrative, time management, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan, direct and support the operation of the department.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, if required.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to withstand long periods of standing and bending.

  • Our facility is just off the Highway 401 in Milton – easy commuter access.
  • Shifts are Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM – no nights or weekends!!!!
